How GST Works

Add GST (Exclusive)

Your base price does not include GST. The calculator adds GST on top to arrive at the final invoice amount.

Total = Base × (1 + Rate/100)

Remove GST (Inclusive)

Your price already includes GST. The calculator extracts the base amount and tax component from the total.

Base = Total ÷ (1 + Rate/100)

Intra-state (CGST + SGST)

When buyer and seller are in the same state. GST is split equally between CGST (Central) and SGST (State).

Inter-state (IGST)

When buyer and seller are in different states. Full GST goes as IGST (Integrated GST) to the Central government.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) are levied together on intra-state (within same state) transactions — each at half the applicable GST rate. IGST (Integrated GST) is levied on inter-state (different state) transactions at the full GST rate.
How do I calculate GST on a price that already includes GST?
Select “Remove GST” mode, enter the inclusive amount and choose the rate. The calculator extracts the original base price using: Base = Total ÷ (1 + Rate/100). The difference is your GST component.
Who needs to register for GST?
Businesses with annual turnover above ₹20 lakhs (₹10 lakhs for special category states) must register for GST. E-commerce operators and inter-state suppliers must register regardless of turnover.
